I Walked Away

June 3, 2026 · Barbara Ruffing

“ “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭22‬-‭23‬ ‭

I Walked Away

I saw them walking toward the manger, As shepherds worshipped on the hay.

I thought there must be some attraction;

I gave a glance, but walked away.

I heard Him teaching in the temple - At only twelve years old, they say.

I thought He must be Someone special, But closed my ear and walked away.

I saw Him feeding hungry thousands, But it was such a busy day, I did not stop to hear His message.

Not interested, I walked away.

They crucified that Man - I saw Him.

I heard Him. He began to pray,

"Forgive them, Father, they don't know You."

I saw His blood - and walked away.

He knocked upon my heart's door gently, But loud enough - I heard Him say,

"I died that day because I love you, But all you do is walk away."

The scenes of Christ, they flashed before me, But this time in a different way.

They touched my heart - I heard the message.

Thank God HE never walked away!
